BAGHDAD: At least 30 persons were killed and 55 others injured after a bomb went off outside a Shia mosque in the Waziriyah neighborhood of northern Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, on Wednesday as worshippers were leaving following evening prayers, officials said.

Meanwhile, four soldiers including an officer were shot dead in an attack by gunmen at a military checkpoint in the northern city of Mosul. A primary school principal was also shot to death in front of his house in the city.

More than 4,000 people have been killed in terrorist attacks in Iraq so far in 2013, with Baghdad province the worst hit.
