KARACHI: Chief Security Officer of President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilal Sheikh, among four others persons were killed when a powerful blast took place near Jamia Banoria Guru Mandir in Karachi on Wednesday. Eleven other persons were also injured in the blast.

A spokesman for the Bilawal House, the residence of President Zardari in Karachi, confirmed Bilal Sheikh’s death.

SP Jamshed Town said the bomb was planted in a double cabin which exploded near New Town mosque at Guru Mandir. He said the registration number of the targeted vehicle is AJK 7838.

The explosion was heard far and wide and shattered windowpanes of several vehicles.

The injured were shifted to Jinnah hospital, where a couple of the injured were described to be in a serious condition

Rescue teams and police officials were trying to identify the exact nature and location of the blast.

President Asif Ali Zadari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the bomb blast. They have directed the authorities concerned to provide best medical treatment to those injured in the blast.
