PESHAWAR, Pakistan: At least 90 people including several policemen were martyred whereas further more than 200 people suffered injuries in a blast inside a mosque in Peshawar on Monday afternoon, the Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud confirmed.

Sources said that a suicide bomber blew himself inside the mosque located near Police Lines area in Peshawar when the faithful were offering Zuhr Prayers.

The dead bodies and injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan  announced one-day mourning in the province after the sorrowful mosque blast.

Sources said that the intensity of the explosion was so high that the roof of the mosque collapsed and the windows broke.

As per preliminary reports, the suicide bomber entered the main gate of the police station and crossed three to four security lines to reach the mosque.

Meanwhile, in the wake of Police Lines Peshawar bomb blast, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has announced the Medical Emergency in Peshawar District.

All the doctors and support staff in the government health facilities including MTIs in Peshawar District have been directed to remain on red alert to cop with the emergencies.
