Major Uqbah Malik Background
Major Uqbah Malik became the first instructor from the Pakistan Army in Sandhurst’s 300-year history. He graduated in 2007 from Sandhurst and returned to his battalion that was in Waziristan. He was a part of the 1st Sindh Regiment.
As Pakistan’s Armed Forces have always played a pivotal role in countering insurgency in the Waziristan region, so Uqbah had remained a part of that regiment to serve the country. Malik has almost a decade-long experience of fighting in the zones of conflict across Pakistan. Major Uqbah made headlines in the English press when his British cadets rendered a tribute in his honor by singing Pakistan’s national anthem as a surprise for him.
