Hunaid Lakhani

He is one of the Pakistanis who has done a lot of work in the education, social, and medical sector. Lakhani was the founder and former chancellor of Iqra University. Hunaid Lakhani was a famous Pakistani politician, philanthropist, and educationist who worked for people from diverse walks of life. He contributed his efforts to the education sector of Pakistan. Hunaid is commonly known as a founder of Iqra University to contribute to improvements in the education sector of Pakistan. He remained the head of Bait-ul-Maal Sindh. In 2022, he resigned from this world on 8th September 2022 while suffering from dengue fever.

Birth

Hunaid Lakhani was born on 1st August 1973 in Karachi, Pakistan. He was brought up in the same city.

Education

Hunaid Lakhani has an impressive educational background that made him successful in becoming a successful educationist in Pakistan. He completed his Matriculation from BVS Parsi High School. His LinkedIn profile shows that he went to American InterContinental University for Bachelor in Business Administration in 1998. Hunaid also had OPM in Business from Harvard Business School.

Family

Hunaid Lakhani had never shared anything regarding his family. It seems like his family lived abroad because he never publicly appeared with any of his family members. All we know is that he was married and had one son and one daughter who lived abroad. They came to Pakistan to attend his funeral. Hunaid Lakhani has one brother and three sisters. Among his three sisters, Erum Lakhani used to help him in his social work.

But, due to his philanthropic works, he made family among the people he helped. He considered every Pakistani his brother or sister. As a social worker, he has made a large family of his own as he loved to spend his life in Pakistan among his people.

Career

He became famous as the founder and chancellor of Iqra University in 1998. He was also the chairman of Iqra University and Erum Lakhani worked as co-founder of the university. Iqra University offers international quality education to students in Pakistan.

He was an educationist and a great philanthropist who worked for the well-being of the poor in Pakistan. He founded the Hussain Lakhni Hospital in Karachi. The purpose of this hospital was to ensure quality treatment for the poor. His hospital focuses especially on children.

Hunaid Lakhani has worked in the housing industry for the last ten years. He launched housing societies like Hunaid City in Karachi, Gulshan Views in Karachi, and Cecil Apartments in Murree.

Hunaid was also CEO of Hussain Lakhani Trust, which aimed at helping the poor and needy by providing them with food, shelter, and clothing. He was also active in politics and remained the leader of a political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was also appointed s the head of Bait-ul-Maal, Sindh, before his death.

Death

Hunaid Lakhani did not have a chance to see this world and continue to do social work for his people. During the flood situation of 2022, he visited the flood-affected areas of Thatta on 5th September 2022 to help the lonely people. Upon return, he fell seriously ill. He was diagnosed with dengue fever. Hunaid got admitted to the hospital on 7th September 2022.

Due to his worsening condition, he departed from this world on 8th September 2022. His funeral occurred a day later because his family had to come from abroad to participate in his annual rites. The funeral occurred at Masjid-e-Saheem in DHA’s Khayaban-e-Rehmat on 9th September 2022. His departure left the whole nation in grief. May his soul rest in peace.
