Ali Sethi was born to famous journalists of Pakistan, Najam Sethi and Jugnu Mohsin. Both of them are involved in politics too. His sister is Mira Sethi. She is a Pakistani actress who has worked in the drama serials Kuch Ankahi and Chupke Chupke. His maternal aunt, Moni Mohsin is a British Pakistani writer.

Education

He has been a remarkable student his entire life. He got his schooling from the International School of Choueifat. Then he went to Aitchison College in Lahore, Pakistan. He was interested in art, culture, and music from the beginning. But, he pursued his higher education at Harvard College in economics. Later, he changed his major to South Asian Studies due to his interest in culture, theology, politics, and linguistics.

Writing Career

His debut novel is The Wish Maker published in 2009 in which he describes the political history of PAkistan with characters from the middle class. This novel was published by Riverhead Hardcover and Penguin Books. It has been reviewed by famous writers and organisations like Khaled Hosseini, Zadie Smith, The New York Times, and The Guardian. He has also written essays, articles, and profiles of people like Saadaat Hassan Manto and Fareeda Khanum.

Musical Career

Pasoori singer began his singing career in 2012. His song dil Jalanay Ki Bat Kartay Ho gained massive popularity among music lovers. He has sung frequently for Coke Studio, starting from Umraah Langiyaan in 2015. Recently, his song, Pasoori, became very popular from Coke Studio Season 14 with Shae Gill.
