Yamaha is a global titan in the motorbike industry. Their models have withstood not only the test of time but also trends. In Pakistan, Yamaha only has to offer the YBR & YBZ line-up, so we never experience all the other amazing machines they produce. Today, I decided to talk about a personal favourite motorbike by the auto-giant—the Yamaha Bolt R-Spec 2023.
Yamaha launched this bad boy back in 2013. The Yamaha Bolt is part of Yamaha’s “Sport Heritage” line, a result you get when you fuse classic American- style cruiser/bobber design with Japanese technology. The R-Spec combines old-school simplicity in a modern avatar and represents the best of the Bolt line of American-style cruisers. Yamaha Bolt R-Spec has price tag of USD 8,899 or PKR 2,036,091. Let’s dive deeper into the specifications.
Yamaha Bolt R-Spec
Design
There’s undoubtedly a whole thing centred around the old-school American sport-cruiser look. Very closely resembling Harley Davidson’s Iron 1200.
Generous blackout coverage makes an immediate and crucial connection to both old and new custom culture. A round cyclops headlight lights the way and further ties into the historical look.
The front blinkers mount to the actual top bracket. A single, round LCD takes care of business with all the pertinent metrics in a one-stop shop. Even the 3.4-gallon fuel tank is retro with its teardrop profile.
The handlebar has just a few inches of rise, encouraging a forward-leaning posture and a more upright position. Mid-mount foot controls and a low seat off the deck complete the rider’s triangle.
LED taillight ensures you are extra visible from the rear, and the tag hangs down from the edge of the fender to extend the coverage over the rear wheel.
Engine & Performance
The 58-cubic-inch (942cc) engine is an air-cooled SOHC 60-degree V-twin with four valves per cylinder, a pent-roof-shaped combustion chamber and a 9.0:1 compression ratio. The engine is designed to provide excellent power and superior low-end torque. The Yamaha Bolt R-Spec produces 65 horsepower and 59.3 pound-feet of torque. Perhaps best of all, the grunt maxes out at a low 3,000 RPM.
Power flows through a standard wet clutch and five-speed transmitter before it heads to the rear wheel via a rugged, carbon-reinforced, belt-and-pulley drive. Bolt R-Spec’s top speed is 170 km/h, and a fuel economy of 22 km/l.
