Motorcycles are widely used in Pakistan, particularly as a mode of transportation for daily commutes and for carrying goods.
In recent years, the motorcycle market in Pakistan has grown significantly, with local and foreign manufacturers investing in the Country.
According to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), over 1.7 million motorcycles were sold in Pakistan in 2020, making it one of the largest markets for motorcycles in the region.
In addition to personal use, motorcycles are also used by law enforcement agencies and the military.
The use of motorcycles as a mode of transportation is widespread in Pakistan, particularly in rural areas where access to other forms of transportation may be limited.
In a report released by the Pew Research Center, a think tank that conducts public opinion polls, demographic research, media content analysis, and other empirical social science research, 43 percent of the households across Pakistan use motorcycles.
The statistics put Pakistan among the top 10 Countries with highest number of motorcycle users.
The report by the Pew Research Center stated that Thailand with 87 percent motorcycle usage among households is atop followed by Vietnam which 86 percent households use motorbikes.
In Pakistan, 43 percent households use motorcycles whereas in neighboring India, the statistics were recorded 47 percent.
However, as per another recent data by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), the top Countries with the highest motorcycle usage include Vietnam, Indonesia, India, China, and Philippines.
It’s worth noting that these Countries also have large populations, which contributes to the high number of motorcycle users.
