The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has adopted the Punjab Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 & Motor Vehicle Rules -1969.

The ITP issues driving license according to Section 4 to 12 of Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 and Rules No. 2 to 22 of Motor Vehicle Rules 1969.

   

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Physical fitness is mandatory as per Section 4 (2), 7(3) & 15 of MVO-1965.

Age Limit:

Bike / Car / Jeep                                           18 Years

Light Transport Vehicle (LTV)                       21 Years

Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV)                     22 Years (having 03 years old DL)

Public Service Vehicle (PSV)                         22 Years (having 01 year old DL)

Procedure:

Learner                                                           Issued without any assessment/test

Learner period                                               42 days learner period after issuance of                                                                           learner permit

Practical Test                                                 Traffic Sign

Test Driving Test within premises- Question Mark and “S” Shapes

  • 01 hour class on traffic rules & regulations is being conducted in the premises of the ITP HQ which is mandatory prior to appearing before the theory/practical test.
  • Physical fitness is mandatory as per section 4(2), 7(3) & 15 of MVO-1965 on prescribed Form-B.

However, if any applicant shows any evidence of being addicted to the excessive use of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs, then he is declared medically unfit to apply for a driving license as per law scheduled II Form B.

  • The Existing Rules & Regulations are being observed for the issuance/renewal of driving licenses in the Federal Capital.

 

Note: The above procedure was shared with the National Assembly in writing by the Federal Minister for Interior on February 3 while responding to a question.
