ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Monday presided over an important meeting at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad regarding the establishment of peace and order during Muharram-Ul-Haram throughout the Country.

In the meeting, the security situation in all provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) was reviewed in detail.

The meeting decided to imposed a ban on drone coverage of Ashura processions and gatherings from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram throughout the Country.

It was decided that the decision to shut down the internet or mobile phone services will be taken in consultation with the respective provinces in view of the security concerns.

The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that cellular and internet outages cause inconvenience for the people; therefore, any decision in this regard needs to be taken considering ground realities and law & order situation.

The minister assured that all possible support will be extended to all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, GB and Islamabad authorities to ensure peace and avoid any untoward situation.

The meeting directed the concerned authorities to prepare advance plans for rallies and gatherings in view of the rains as well as conduct strict checking at all entry and exit points.

It was also directed that processions and gatherings should be monitored through cameras and the compliance of Code of Conduct be ensured.

Furthermore, it was directed that the security of mosques, Imambargahs, and other places of worship should be given a top priority.
