ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has felicitated his Pakistani Counterpart Dr. Arif Alvi and the latter’s fellow-countrymen on the occasion of Pakistan Day, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my heartiest congratulations to you and to all your people on the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,” Ilham Aliyev wrote in his felicitation letter to his Pakistani Counterpart Dr Arif Alvi.

Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan and Pakistan are bound together by strong friendship and partnership relations. He said that high level relations existing between our States which are based on mutual trust and support, reflects the will of our brotherly peoples.

“I am confident that, improvement in our bilateral relations, deepening of cooperation in all areas will further serve to the interests of our peoples and countries,” he wrote.

“In this auspicious day, I extend to you my best wishes for your robust health, success in your endeavors, and for peace and prosperity of the brotherly people of Pakistan.”

The Pakistan Day is annually celebrated throughout the Country on March 23 to commemorate the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940 which eventually steered the Country to gain independence.

In a bid to mark Pakistan Day, a joint military parade is also held in Islamabad.

The Defence Minister of Azerbaijan Colonel General Zakir will also grace the military parade this year, for which, he will reach Pakistan today (March 21).
