Bahawalpur Division marked as “sensitive” during Ashura of Muharram-ul-Haram Bahawalpur, Pakistan: Bahawalpur Division is marked as “sensitive” during Ashura of Muharram-ul-Haram. Tight security arrangements have been ensured in Bahawalpur City for providing security to Imambargahs in connection with Ashura of Muharram-ul-Haram. According to police circles, 57 majalis were held at different imambargahs and 31 processions were taken out in connection with Ashura of Muharram-ul-Haram in the district on Tuesday and Wednesday. Meanwhile, state run news agency APP reported that over 1,000 police personnel are performing their duties to maintain peace and order during first 10 days of Muharram. Talking to APP, police official in Bahawalpur said that over 1,000 police personnel have been deployed in and around imambargahs and on the routes of Muharram-ul-Haram related processions to provide security to the mourners. According to correspondent of Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency, seven mourning processions were taken out in Kotwali, Noshahra Jadid, Och Sharif, Saddar area, Qaimpur, Civil Lines, Abbas Nagar, Dera Nawab Sahb, Chani Goth and Head Rajkan areas. Ladies police officers are deployed to conduct body search of women coming to attend majalis at imambargahs and processions. Bahawalpur is sensitive division of province of Punjab because banned terror organisations had been attacking shias and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ) had stronghold in southern Punjab. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed to provide maximum security to mourner processions and imambargahs during the month of Muharram-ul-Haram. He held a special meeting to finalise security plan of Punjab today.
