Why Is It The Right Time To Ban TikTok In Pakistan? Have you ever been told you are too old to understand TikTok? If yes, you aren’t probably too old, but you are rightly mature to steer clear of the platform. It is a time bomb in the making, or if aptly put out – a time bomb waiting to be blown off. Everywhere you see, especially in India and Pakistan, TikTok is all the rage among the youth. But, at what cost? TikTok & Mental Health Among all the other nuisances, the effect of TikTok on mental health outdo all. The problematic nature of the platform is as such that it has become a reason for suicide, social isolation, depression, bullying, and narcissism. It is a double-edged sword. Those who are popular, tend to develop narcissistic values and would do anything to make sure their popularity chart is only on the rise. On the other hand, those who are striving to make sure they do reach the same fame develop tendencies on depression, isolation, and self-esteem issues. TikTok, Bullying & Pakistan Recently, with a few TikToker’s videos being leaked on the internet, there is no denying that it has the tendency to take lives away. From nudes to body shaming, from unethical content to moral debauchery – there is nothing good in the TikTok content we see in Pakistan. While the world appreciates TikTok for its tendency to provide a creative outlet, more than half the Pakistani populace has decided to make it a place for bullying, harassment, and whatnot. There might be an ounce of responsibility and awareness with the app being used by people around the world, but in Pakistan, it is not. It has become an ultimate meme-generation platform with nothing but baseless content, nudity, bullying, public shaming, and wastage of talent among a long list of other problematic issues. BAN TIKTOK! Now coming to the point at hand, we feel that it is the right time to ban the app in the country. The app in itself is one of the most creative social media to exist, but with the users that we have in Pakistan, it isn’t the right one to be used. From Minahil Malik’s personal videos with nudity being leaked to Alleena Fatima being body-shamed and harassed, our users have given every reason to jeopardize lives and self-harm. When the government can ban games like PUBG, it is about time the use of TikTok is banned as well. Our people have absolutely no sense of responsibility while using social media, hence we can expect the loss of more lives due to the pressure, online bullying, and offline harassment. We do not want to use more of our creative and talented population just because there are some (read many) people who do not know how to use social media like social media. Hence, the government and the digital right entities should now sit to decide if the app is more important or the lives of your youth.

Now that life is somehow getting back to normal after the Corona tension, the celebrities have resumed their work as well. Mehwish Hayat, Sana Javed, and many others have now started traveling again. Sana, in her recent post, shared a picture of her after travel and it is an eye-opening message for everyone. What Was Sana’s Message? Sana Javed was traveling for a work trip when she had to wear a Hazmat Suit and a complete PPE kit for the flight duration. The precautions are absolutely necessary because the pandemic isn’t over yet and mingling among people from all around the country or world can still be dangerous. Though we don’t know what her destination was, Sana took on a complete gear to ensure that she was safe to and from the 2-hour journey in which interacting with people was necessary. She Salutes Front Line Workers Wearing the PPE kit made her realize that is wasn’t easy for the healthcare and the other front-line workers to be wrapped up during the heat throughout the day. This is why she shared this heartfelt message on her Insta post. “Had to wear this for 2 hours on a flight. Can't imagine how our doctors and all the medical front line workers wear this all day in this heat. “I salute you for your hardwork, efforts and sacrifice. Let’s keep practicing social distancing and follow SOP's. It’s not over yet. Let's be cautious and careful for our loved ones and help our health care system so it doesn't collapse.” In the end, she also shared a prayer for everyone who is affected by the pandemic and wished them health and recovery: “Sending love and prayers to everyone effected and everyone fighting this pandemic. May Allah help us all AMEEN.” Her post ended with her crediting the PPE kit to the designer Asim Jofa who when the pandemic started took this upon himself to create the kits and Hazmat suits for the front-line workers who were in a shortage of it.
