Asif warns of frequent, prolonged load shedding in days to come

ISLAMABAD: The federal minster for water and power Khawaja Asif said on Friday that he cannot give false hopes to people about eliminating load shedding and warned electricity consumers of having to tolerate frequent and prolonged load shedding in the hot summer days to come.

   

Taking to media representatives in Islamabad on Friday, the minister said that an amount of Rs3.2 billion has been recovered during the ongoing campaign against electricity bill defaulters, adding that most of this amount has been recovered from public sectors departments.

The federal minister said that every possible effort is being made to reduce electricity load shedding.

Asif further said that electricity shortfall currently stands at 3200 megawatt, as the rise in temperature increased the demand, which resulted into extended load shedding.
