ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at PM Office in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, matters related to security were discussed. 

Sources said that the two leaders also discussed the upcoming visit of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Islamabad.

The second one-on-one meeting between the prime minister and the COAS after the new government took over in the Centre following a Federal Cabinet’s visit to the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on August 30 wherein the Cabinet members led by Prime Minister Imran Khan received an unprecedented protocol.



While being in GHQ for eight hours, the prime minister also presided over a meeting attended by the cabinet members, the COAS and other top military officials, reflecting a civilian government’s supremacy and civil-military leadership while being on same page.

The prime minister and the cabinet members were briefed on defence, internal security and other professional matters.
