Army chief appreciates resolve of political leadership shown during APC

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has appreciated the resolve of the national political leadership shown during the All Parties Conference (APC) held in the wake of Peshawar school attack to review an effective strategy to deal with terrorism.

   

The appreciation came during the 178th Corps Commanders conference which was held on Thursday at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi with the COAS in the chair.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the overall internal and external security situation in the country with particular focus on the ongoing operations was reviewed in the meeting.

The recent upsurge in Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) across the country was also reviewed and its effects appreciated.

During the meeting, the COAS appreciated the resolve of the national political leadership shown during the APC, according to the ISPR.

“Entire nation was looking towards Political and Military leadership of the country to take bold and meaningful decisions leading to stern action against terrorists and their sympathizers,” the army chief said.

The army chief emphasized that key lies in all institutions joining hands for an effective and prompt implementation of a comprehensive National Action Plan without having to lose any further time.

The conference participants hoped that much wanted and precious wider political consensus achieved against terrorism is not lost to smaller issues.

The participants also expressed grief over tragic loss of innocent lives in Peshawar terrorist attack, solidarity with bereaved families and resolved not to stop operations till elimination of last terrorist from our soil.

The ISPR said that the COAS also reviewed the homework done by all concerned for execution of their respective assigned tasks listed in the National Action Plan and directed them to follow strict time lines.
