APNS demands fair distribution of advertisements to newspapers

MediaAPNS demands fair distribution of advertisements to newspapers

KARACHI, Pakistan: Amid the worsening condition of newspapers, the Federal Capital Committee (FCC) of the All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) has demanded a fair distribution of advertisements to print media and also called upon the government to incentivize the provision of paper to newspapers.

In a letter written to the Executive Committee of the APNSA on May 23, the FCC raised concerns stating that since the rise in inflation has affected everyone in the Country, newspapers, the oldest medium of communications, have been greatly distressed.

It noted that the effect was devastating for the newspaper industry.

The FCC said that many small newspapers have halted their operations and countless are on the verge of closing.

Moreover, the Press Information Department (PID) has been giving advertisements to Non-APNS members whereas the members of APNS are being constantly neglected.

Furthermore, the periodicals and small newspapers have also been ignored in terms of advertisements.

The FCC was of the view that an increase of less than 100% of government rates may not be accepted while since the paper price has skyrocketed due to the ban on the import; therefore, the government should incentivize the provision of paper to newspapers.

More so, the PID may also be directed to make judicious distribution of advertisements and APNS Members should be preferred.
