LAHORE: Internationally acclaimed singer Amanat Ali, who is often seen being linked to various charity events, has now lent his support to another initiative – standing up against bullies!

Amanat Ali recently did a special song for The World Academy of Arts, Literature and Media (WAALM). The song, Walk in Style is part of a special campaign started by WAALM to support the victims of bullying all around the world.

Since this is a global issue, WAALM decided to gather musicians from everywhere to be a part of this project. Musicians from over 20 countries have sung their own versions of Walk in Style in a genre which represents their country. The tagline for the project is ‘Be a victor, not a victim’ which pretty much sums up everything the project stands for.

Having himself been bullied in school as a youngster, this particular cause is close to the heart for Amanat. ‘Personally I feel bullying is something which every person faces at some point of their lives, even if at times they’re too intimidated or ashamed to admit it. It happens all over the world and Pakistan is no different. When I was approached to be a part of this project, I was more than happy to do my bit to highlight this issue’ Amanat said. The music arrangement of Amanat’s version of the song has been done by Ahsan Parvez Mehdi, and the lyrics have been written by Mosi Dorbayani. The original composition is by Loghman Adhami. The song has been recorded in English by all musicians so that the message reaches the maximum number of people.

Speaking regarding the project, Amanat’s manager Omzee said ‘We have always tried to give back as much as we can to society. Amanat is a youth icon and has a strong fan base, so we believe in doing our bit to support raising a voice against issues facing the youth, as it is solely because of Amanat’s fans that he is where he is. Bullying is a very common but rarely addressed issue and with this project, even if we can bring it to a few people’s notice, we feel our job has been done’.

Amanat Ali made his singing debut in 2007 through the international singing platform Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007. Captivating the hearts of audiences globally with his soulful voice, Amanat ended up as the third runner up on the show. The singer has made his presence in the industry felt with hits like Kohraam, Thumri, Paheli and Aisha from Coke Studio. With several hits and high profile shows to his credit, Amanat is now one of the highest paid performers in Pakistan. His charismatic personality and effortless style makes him a youth icon.
