All Educational Institutions in Pakistan to remain closed till May 31, 2020

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: All Educational Institutions in Pakistan will remain shut down till May 31, 2020 in view of the fast-spreading Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak throughout the Country, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood said on Thursday.

The decision was taken by the National Coordination Committee (NCC) on the recommendation of Inter-Provincial Education Ministers.

   

The NCC meeting was held in Islamabad on Thursday under the Chairmanship of the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood. The Provincial Education Ministers took part in the meeting via Video Conference.

The meeting ordered the closure of all educational institutions including Public and Private Schools, Colleges, Universities, & Madaris across the Country till May 31, 2020.

Shafqat Mahmood said that this closure will be treated as summer vacation and if by the grace of Allah the Coronavirus problem is resolved, the Educational Institutions will reopen in June.

Earlier, the National Security Committee (NSC) which met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair on March 13 to formulate a strategy to deal with the impending threat of Coronavirus had decided to close all Educational Institutions in Pakistan till April 5, 2020.

It had also been decided that the situation regarding the closure of all educational institutions in the Country would be reviewed by the Ministry of Education on March 27 and further decisions would be taken.
