ISLAMABAD: A banned militant group has claimed to have held Ali Haider Gilani in its custody, saying that the group will soon release a video of Gilani shortly after Eid to apprise about their demands.

Ali Haider Gilani, a son of former Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, was kidnapped on May 2 during election campaign in Multan.

A spokesman for the outfit calling itself Al-Mansooreen Brigade, Abu Yazeed, said that Gilani was in their custody and was safe.

According to a news agency the spokesman was calling from an Afghan phone number.
