MIRPUR (AJK): With the advent of the nation-wide preparations to celebrate the independent of the mother-land, preparations are also afoot across Azad Jammu & Kashmir to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan on August 14.

All the major and small cities and towns across AJK are being decorated with the national flags of Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to mark August 14.

The national flag of Pakistan are being hoisted on all private and public buildings by now. A great enthusiasm is being witnessed among the people including children found hectically busy in purchasing the national flags of Pakistan from the bazaars for hoisting atop their houses and vehicles on the national day

Special programs to celebrate the day are being chalked out, organizers belonging to the AJK state government, social, political and other quarters of the local civil society said.

Like all previous years, the Kashmiris are preparing to celebrate the independence day of Pakistan with great enthusiasm and devotion coupled with the renewal of the pledge to continue the ongoing struggle for the birth right of self-determination to reach the ultimate destination.

The day will dawn with special prayers in the mosques all over AJK for the stability, prosperity, security and speedy progress of Pakistan and for the early success of the Kashmiris indigenous struggle for the achievement of their legitimate right to self-determination.

The National flag hoisting ceremonies, rallies, processions and the colorful functions under the aegis of various public and private sector, social and political organizations in all small and major towns and cities of Azad Jammu & Kashmir will be the hall mark of this national day.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
