Senior leadership of the Afghan Taliban is reportedly fleeing Afghanistan through land routes into Central Asian states after the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) rendered Kabul International Airport and Bagram Air Base inoperative, according to unconfirmed intelligence and media reports.
Sources claim that Pakistani air operations damaged critical infrastructure, including runways, radar systems, and ground support equipment at both airfields, effectively halting military and cargo flights. The development comes amid allegations that these facilities were being used for the регуляр landing of military cargo aircraft from India and for the evacuation of senior Afghan Taliban figures. Pakistan, meanwhile, continues Operation Ghazb lil Haq, launched in response to cross-border attacks originating from Afghan territory.
Current Situation Pak Afghan Border: 2200 hours 1 Mar 2026
On 1 Mar 2026, Pakistan Security Forces conducted punishment fire plan on multiple Forward TTA posts in all sectors all along Pak Afghan border as resolute response to hostilities initiated by TTA on 26 Feb 2026.
Response entailed degradation of so-called military capabilities oriented and allied infrastructure.
5 x additional TTA posts were captured during the day as QPQ tasks in different sectors.
At few locations, at Tirah Momand and Khyber; TTA attempted to build up forces which were neutralised by effective and punishing fires. Other attempts by TTA were made through small arm fires from distance during the day, however, those were also neutralised by effective mortar and artillery fire.
As per reports and wireless communication intercepts, further casualties of TTA and Kharjis have occurred, however, no casualty of Pak Security forces occurred on the entire front.

Posts destroyed: 182
Posts captured: 31
Tank/APC/ Vehicle destroyed: 186
Locations targeted by Air: 41
At many locations along the front, TTA forces have raised white flags on their posts, calling for de-escalation and showing an unwillingness to fight further.
Ghudwana Enclave (32 sq Km area) is firmly held by own forces in Zhob sector, and nearby TTA posts in that sector are mostly vacated with raised white flag.
The captured weapons, vehicles and equipment of TTA have been moved to rear headquarters.
. Security sources say these territorial advance aims to neutralize launch pads used for attacks against Pakistan and to establish buffer zones along sensitive border areas.
Following the disruption of air routes, Afghan Taliban leaders are now reportedly attempting to escape through land corridors leading to Central Asian states, as aerial evacuation is no longer considered viable. Islamabad maintains that the operation will continue until militant infrastructure threatening Pakistan’s national security is fully dismantled.
Officials have not yet confirmed the exact locations or identities of the fleeing Taliban leadership, and independent verification of the claims remains unavailable.
