KABUL: An explosion ripped through an Afghan mosque during the Eid prayer killing the governor of Afghanistan’s Logar province and injuring 20 others persons, Afghan officials said.

The blast took place on Tuesday morning as Governor Arsallah Jamal was delivering a speech in the main mosque in the provincial capital of Puli Alam to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
