Afghan President Hamid Karzai is arriving in Islamabad on Monday for wide ranging talks with Pakistani leadership.

During his stay‚ the Afghan President will hold talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on a range of issues including bilateral relations‚ Afghan reconciliation process and regional situation. Both the leaders will also address a joint press conference following talks.

In an interview with our correspondent‚ Foreign Office Spokesperson Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said emphasis of talks will be on Afghan reconciliation process.

He said Pakistan has always supported an afghan led and afghan owned peace process.

Defense analyst and former FATA Secretary Brigadier retired Mehmood Shah has termed Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s visit to Islamabad very significant.

Talking to Radio Pakistan‚ he said Afghan President’s visit to Pakistan will help improve ties between the two countries. He said Islamabad and Kabul have always desired peace in Afghanistan because it is linked with the peace in the region.

Mehmood Shah said Pakistan has no interest in Afghanistan except restoration of peace.
