Foreign OfficeAfghan govt urged to take action against anti-Pakistan terrorists

The Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua led High Level Pakistani delegation visited Kabul on Saturday, and urged the Afghan government to take action against anti-Pakistan terrorists.

The visit of Pakistani delegation – comprising of senior civilian and military officials – to Kabul was aimed at to hold discussion with their Afghan Counterparts led by Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai on Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) – a joint action plan for cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism and reduction of violence, peace and reconciliation, refugees repatriation and joint economic development.

In a series of tweets, the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said that during talks with the Kabul officials, Pakistan also emphasized the need for strengthening border management on the Afghan side.

Dr Faisal told that the Foreign Secretary strongly condemned recent terror attacks in Kabul and offered joint investigation into the attacks.

The Spokesperson told that the Foreign Secretary explained that instead of blame game both sides should engage in concrete cooperation.

“APAPS expected to help solidify Pak-Afghan bilateral relations,” Dr Faisal said.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office in Islamabad issued a Joint Press Release on the meeting of High level Afghan and Pakistan delegations in Kabul.

The Joint Press Release said that the meeting was held in a cordial environment and both delegations made some progress on the APAPPS.

It said that there are still important areas to be discussed and agreed upon, and both sides remain committed to continue their discussions to reach an agreement on the APAPPS.

The next meeting will take place on February 9 and 10, 2018 in Islamabad.
