Afghan army chief, ISAF commander assure full support to Pakistan in fight against terrorism

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Afghan Army Chief General Sher Muhammad Karimi and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander General John Campbell held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed overall security situation in the region, matters relating to coordination on the Pak-Afghan border and protocols put in place to improve border control.

The COAS vowed to extend full support to the Afghan army and the ISAF in all spheres including coordinated operations in respective areas by both sides and sharing of intelligence.

The army chief appreciated the recently commenced operations by Afghan forces against the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in areas close to Pak-Afghan Border.

On the occasion, the visiting dignitaries expressed their grief over the tragic terrorist’s act of Peshawar School in which 149 innocent lives were lost including 133 children.

The Chief of General Staff Afghan National Army and the ISAF Commander assured their full support in fight against terrorism and eliminating terrorists on Afghan soil.

They acknowledged that due to the successful and non-discriminatory Zarb-e-Azb operation of the Pakistani security forces, Pakistan army’s operational gains were appreciable and terrorists’ networks have been seriously degraded.
