We see a lot of fresh faces on the TV making their debuts almost every day whether it be TV commercials or drama serials. Nowadays, a large chunk of youth is coming towards the showbiz industry of Pakistan but there is a small percentage of them who stand out in the crowd and make themselves known. All this recognition is based on unmatchable talent and a passion for acting.

From among these countless fresh shining stars, the very talented and all-rounder Meiraj Haq was interviewed by DND. An account of the interview is as follows;

Meiraj Haq is a filmmaker and actor born on 10th November’1991 in Rawalpindi. He made his debut in the drama serial “Sabaat” as Dr. Murad which was aired on a local TV channel. He also directed the official documentary of Imran Khan for the elections of 2018. He is an alumnus of the New York Film Academy and has completed his studies at George Mason University.

The conversation was made with him about the film industry of Pakistan. He claimed that a successful actor is the one whom people remember for ages. The most inspiring person for him in the industry is Atif Aslam, who has never gotten into any controversy.

Talking about the films and TV in Pakistan he said that it makes him sad when he sees that the industry does not have a structure that hinders the entrance of actually talented people in the industry. He says that proper auditions should be held similar to the ones that are held all around the world. In response to a question, he said that a good script together with a good cast can do wonders in the Pakistan showbiz industry. Since a good actor can bring a boring character to life and make the role bearable. In addition to this, he said that Pakistan is a country that has immense talent but there is a lack of awareness and guidance as to how to pursue a career in the entertainment industry of Pakistan. One of the major drawbacks of the Pakistani showbiz industry is that there are no academies or training schools where the young talent can polish their skills and shine out as twinkling stars.

Furthermore, in response to a question about the merit in the industry, he said that sadly no merit is set for an aspiring actor to enter the showbiz industry instead contacts and social media following determines which person is eligible to enter the industry and which role he/she can get. He also said that in order to compete with all the other entertainment industries around the globe Pakistan needs good writers to come up with strong scripts and good content in order to attract not only the national audience but also the international audience. And according to Meiraj, this is only possible when the writers get their due payments for their hard work.

It was a wonderful experience interviewing such a mindful person who is not only optimistic but also is ready to spread love all around him.
