Nawaz directed increase export, production for new jobs for youth

Islamabad, Pakistan: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has directed his team to boost export, trade and commerce in the country for providing job opportunities to youth.

“No country can make progress without increasing exports. Our sitting must be successful and result oriented as well. We need to work together to increase exports”, observed PM Nawaz Sharif while talking to industrialists, traders and exporters.

While presiding over the high level meeting attended by the Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and heads chambers of commerce and exporter groups at PM office on Friday, Nawaz directed to take measures to increase exports in the challenging environment of global economy.
The meeting considered various initiatives to improve quality and competitiveness of Pakistani exports.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was of the view that despite insufficient resources, the government was determined to resolve the problems of businessmen and farmers. Prime Minister said increase in exports was essential for the development and prosperity.

Prime Minister Sharif stressed the need for joint efforts at public and private levels to give a boost to the country’s exports. He regretted that Pakistan did not make any substantial progress in exports during last several years and also lagged behind other countries in the region in this sector.

Khurram Dastgir Khan presented report about his visit to Belarus and Kazakhstan and indicated that there was a great scope for trading with central Asian and Eastern European countries and joint ventures were also possible provided traders and industrialists showcase their products with high standards and clean business rules.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was of the view that trade balance should be in favour of the country ministry of commerce must work to increase exports and future international contract must include the point of balance trade.

Energy crises in the country also came under discussion and manufactures, industrialists and traders were of the view that they could not compete international market due to high rates of electricity and other energy resources while constant loadshedding was also one of the reason of decrease of production in Pakistan.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi briefed the meeting about major gas pipeline projects including Turkmanistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) and Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) and he was of the view that import of LPG had helped the country to minimise energy crises while successful completion of gas pipeline projects would help Pakistan to come out of energy crises in next three years.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was of the view that country could not flourish and provide new jobs to youth unless it had balance trade and Pakistan must come out of its dependence on import. It may be mentioned that dependence of country on import increased during the last 15 years export drastically went down due to high prices of raw material and energy crises.
