The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Thursday released 233,060 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 142,130 cusecs. According to the data released by IRSA, water level in the

Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1540.70 feet, which was 160.70 feet

higher than its dead level 1380 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 82,300 cusecs while outflow was recorded as 140,000 cusecs. The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1236.85

feet, which was 194.85 feet higher than its dead level of 1040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 16,770 and 50,000 cusecs respectively. The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 173,699, 144,067 and 89,020 cusecs respectively.

Similarly, from the Kabul River, a total of 16,600 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 26,460 cusecs released from the Chenab River at Marala.

Pakistan is constructing medium and small dams to save water that goes down to Arabian sea without utilization but demand of energy is increasing over 9.2% every year against only 0.9% increase in power generation.

Pakistan is already facing worst loadshedding conditions and electricity is not being supplied for 12 to 14 hours out of 24 hours in many areas of the country.
