PakistanPetition filed in SC to include Musharraf’s name in ECL

ISLAMABAD: An application has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday requesting it to order the inclusion of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharaf’s name to the Exit Control List (ECL), Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

The chief cleric of Lal Masjid, Maulana Abdul Aziz, filed the petition. The petitioner in his application argued that the Lal Masjid operation was conducted on the orders of the former president, adding that the court should order the inclusion of his name to the ECL. The petition includes Musharraf as a party.

A government crackdown on the Lal Masjid in Islamabad was conducted in July 2007. It came to an end after a bloody eight-day siege killing at least 58 Pakistani troops and several seminary students.
