PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A suicide blast took place in Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Thursday morning that left at least two police personnel dead and six others injured.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mian Saeed said that the incident occurred when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden motorcycle into vehicle of Deputy Commandant of Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) Malik Tariq in Hayatabad when he was on his way to his office.
Resultantly, two policemen were killed while six others including the Deputy Commandant of FRP sustained injuries.
The dead bodies and injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
The Additional Inspector General of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Shafqat Malik said that five to six kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the making of the bomb.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, the outlawed militant outfit Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the suicide blast in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area.
PM Nawaz condemns suicide blast in Peshawar
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack on Deputy Commandant FRP in Peshawar. He deplored the loss of lives and sought report into the incident.
The prime minister also directed authorities to apprehend the criminals at the earliest.
