Shehzad Roy starts acting career in films

LAHORE, Pakistan: The renowned Pakistani singer Shehzad Roy has announced to begin his acting career in Pakistani movies and expressed hope that people will like his work.

The 38-year old singer, social worker and humanitarian will act in an upcoming Pakistani film directed by Ahsan Raheem.

In a recent interview with media in Lahore, the actor said that he had never thought about acting but he could not refuse after reading script of this film.

Shehzad Roy said that Anwar Maqsood is the writer of his first film while the famous actor of Lollywood Faisal Qureshi will also be performing in that.

The film name has not been revealed yet but according to sources, it will be a satirical take on the state of affairs in Pakistan. However, the film will also have other commercial ingredients like romance, action and comedy.

Shehzad Roy started his singing career in 1995 and since then, he has recorded six albums. He has recorded many hit songs such as Saali, Teri Soorat and Kangna but is most famous for his 2008 socio-political album Qismat Apney Haath Mein (‘we make our own destiny’).

Roy is also the president and founder of Zindagi Trust, a non-government charitable organisation that strives to improve the quality of education available to the average Pakistani.
