Nawaz Sharif arrives in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday arrived in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, after concluding a two-day visit to Turkmenistan.

The premier was accompanied by Federal Ministers Khurram Dastgir Khan, Khawaja Asif, State Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatimi and Political Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Asif Kirmani.

During his stay in Bishkek, the prime minister will hold talks with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev followed by the delegation level talks during which the two sides will discuss issues of mutual cooperation in various fields.

The two countries are likely to sign several agreements and memorandum of understandings (MoUs).

Earlier during his two-day official stay in Ashqabat, Nawaz Sharif held talks with the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in all spheres of mutual interest.

During talks, the two sides decided to increase their cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, and cooperation against drug trafficking, organized crimes and other threats.

The two countries also agreed to create favourable conditions and take up important development projects in trade, economic, financial and other sectors.
