KPK govt stages protest outside parliament for provincial rights

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government staged a protest sit-in outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday to press the federal government for acceptance of their demands.

The Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak-led protest which initially began from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House reached the Parliament House against the federation for ignoring the provincial government in mega projects, load shedding and expected alteration in the China-Pakistan economic corridor route.

Talking to media, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister said that if their demands are not met, then they will invite entire public of the province to stage dharna.

Pervaiz Khattak said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produces power more than what it needs but yet it is faced with load shedding. He said that cheap electricity is being produced in KPK, and the center is selling it back to KPK on hiked prices

Security beefed up in Red Zone Islamabad

Meanwhile, a high level meeting was held in Islamabad with the Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in the chair.

During the meeting, it was decided to put the security on high alert in Red Zone area in Islamabad and take stern action against those who would take law in their hands.

It was decided that the police would be assisted by the Frontier Constabulary (FC) to maintain law and order at all cost.
