Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan, will be brought back: Indian home minister

NEW DELHI, India: The Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that his country has credible information of Dawood Ibrahim’s presence in Pakistan and will bring him back “no matter what.”

“Whether we have to pursue Pakistan or put pressure, we will not rest until we get Dawood Ibrahim back,” Singh said in the Lok Sabha on Monday as reported by NDTV.

Singh said that the Indian government will leave no stone unturned to bring Dawood back to India.

His statement came days after the Indian Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Chaudhry told the parliament that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government had no information of the whereabouts of Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted terrorist after the 1993 Mumbai bombings.

“The subject has not been located so far. Extradition process with regard to Dawood Ibrahim would be initiated once the subject is located,” Chaudhry said.

On May 7, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman Khalil Ullah Qazi told media at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad that Pakistan has always been saying that Dawood Ibrahim is not at its soil and now India has admitted the Pakistani stance saying that it does not know his whereabouts.

“We have been saying that whereabouts of Dawood Ibrahim were not known to Pakistan. And, finally, it has been admitted by the side which has been accusing Pakistan on this issue,” the spokesman said when asked to comment on the matter.
