LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Home Department on Saturday issued orders of detention of Mumbai attack suspect Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi for another month, a day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered his immediate release.

On Friday, the IHC’s Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi accepted the appeal filed by the alleged Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi against his third time detention orders.

Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi ordered the immediate release of Lakhvi, and declared his detention illegal.

Following his release orders by the IHC, the Indian government lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan government, and even summoned Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit to seek an explanation from him over Lakhvi’s release.
