LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Home Department on Saturday issued orders of detention of Mumbai attack suspect Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi for another month, a day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered his immediate release.
On Friday, the IHC’s Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi accepted the appeal filed by the alleged Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi against his third time detention orders.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi ordered the immediate release of Lakhvi, and declared his detention illegal.
Following his release orders by the IHC, the Indian government lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan government, and even summoned Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit to seek an explanation from him over Lakhvi’s release.

Pakistan protests to India over unnecessary media hype
Later in the day, Pakistan protested to India over unnecessarily creating media hype on the release of Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi by the IHC.
The Foreign Office in Islamabad summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner and handed over a protest note to him in this regard, according to a government officials.
The official said that instead of creating hype and projecting the case in the media out of proportion, India should behave diplomatically and express concern in diplomatic norms.
Pakistan also expressed concern with India for summoning of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the Ministry of External Affairs.
