Foreign students’ admission in Madaris banned: NAP report

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 60 organizations have been proscribed and admission of foreign students in Madaris banned, according to a report presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about implementation of the anti-terror national action plan (NAP).

In the report, the prime minister was informed regarding the regulation of Madaris that there is a consensus on registration, regulation, financing, curriculum, audit and foreign students and the relevant data is being shared with the provincial governments.

It was told that under the NAP against terrorism, 16344 operations have so far been carried out and 12462 arrests made in the country.

The report said that a modern anti-terrorism force would be raised with Punjab contributing 5000, Sindh 3000, Balochistan 1000 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 800 personnel to the force.

The prime minister was also informed that 233 militants have been identified having links with the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or its affiliates.

The report said that under the category of sectarian terrorism, 294 proclaimed offenders have been identified, 547 cases registered under hate speech, 416 arrests made, 83 material confiscated while 41 shops sealed.

Similarly, 26 cases registered for terrorist funding, 32 arrested and an amount of Rs71.5 million recovered.

In addition, it was told that due to on-going targeted operation in Karachi, crime graph has come down in the city. The report said that so far 35079 criminals have been arrested in Karachi.

The report further informed the prime minister that a security audit of media houses and journalists in all provinces and Islamabad has been completed and 57 security guards have so far been trained.
