War on terror is our own war: Rasheed

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed has expressed the resolve to establish peace in the country at all costs to give a secure future to coming generations.

In a meeting with a delegation of Ladha and Wana press clubs in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister said that the war on terror is our own war.

The information minister said that attention of the entire world is on the war being fought in the tribal areas.

“Peace in these areas is vital for Pakistan’s future and world peace,” Rasheed said.

The minister also appreciated the sacrifices of tribal people, and assured that the government will address their grievances.

Rasheed said that the government, political parties and the armed forces fully stand by the tribal people.

The Pakistani armed forces are engaged in a full-fledged military operation Zarb-e-Azb in restive northwestern tribal areas including North Waziristan and Khyber agencies to wipe out militants from the country.

Meanwhile in an interview with CNN, the Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the armed forces are going after terrorists without any discrimination.

“There are no good terrorists…..We are going against all terrorists without any discrimination of hue and color,” Bajwa said in reply to a question.

The DG ISPR said that the army has cleared a major part of the North Waziristan tribal region during the operation Zarb-e-Azb except for a small belt near the Pak-Afghan border.

Bajwa further said that the operation against militant groups is underway with air and gunship helicopter strikes and these are being followed by ground operations.
