Pakistan passing through critical phase: Rasheed

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for information Pervaiz Rasheed said on Saturday that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase requiring complete consensus and concentration of the nation on the war against terror.

“We should all pledge to take those to task who soaked their hands with blood of innocent children in Peshawar,” the information minister said addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Saturday evening along with the state minister Anusha Rehman and MNA Daniyal Aziz.

The minister made these remarks in reference to the Peshawar army public school attack on December 16, the bloodiest massacre the country has seen for years. The terror attack left 150 persons mostly school children dead.

“We must get Pakistan rid of terrorism to secure future of our children,” Rasheed said.

Following the attack, the country’s political and military leadership took strong anti-terror measures as a 20-point national action plan to counter terrorism was adopted under which military courts are being established for speedy trial of terror suspects, among others initiatives.

Likewise, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also approved the removal of six-year moratorium on the death penalty in terror-related cases.
