32 militants killed while trying to flee to Afghanistan

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The security forces killed 32 militants in the Khyber tribal region as they were trying to flee to Afghanistan, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

The ISPR said that a group of militants was moving from Khyber agency’s Tirah valley towards the Pak-Afghan border.

The security forces ambushed the moving group at Wurmagai and Spurkot and killed 32 militants.

In an exchange of fire with the militants, three security forces personnel were also injured.

The fleeing militants left behind bodies of their accomplices, the Pakistan’s military media wing said.

Earlier, the army claimed to have killed 10 militants and injured another two in a ground operation carried out in Khyber agency.

The ISPR said that two security personnel were also injured in the operation.

On Thursday, the Pakistan’s military carried out air strikes in Tirah valley of the Khyber tribal region, killing at least 57 militants.

The air strikes were conducted in the aftermath of Monday’s deadly Taliban attack on an army public school in Peshawar which left at least 148 persons mostly children dead.
