PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced reduction in power tariff by Re2.32 per unit, adding that oil prices are expected to be reduced further next month.
Talking to media persons in Peshawar on Saturday, the prime minister said that people should see making of Naya KPK and Naya Pakistan.
The prime minister said that provision of cheaper electricity to the general public is top priority of the government and it wants to provide relief to the masses.
Sharif said that due to the cheaper electricity there will be a substantial decrease in the inflation and the industrial production will increase.
Earlier, the prime minister visited the residence of former senior minister iin Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Bashir Ahmed Bilour in Peshawar and condoled the death of his son Usman Bilour with the bereaved family.
On Thursday, the prime minister’s spokesperson Dr Musadik Malik said at a press briefing in Islamabad that the federal government will soon announce the decrease in electricity prices.
The prime minister’s spokesperson said that earlier the government also decreased the petroleum prices.
A reduction was announced by the prime minister in petrol prices by Rs9.66 per litre on November 29 while earlier on October 31 the prime minister announced reduction in the price of petrol by Rs9.43 per litre in order to provide relief to public.
