Nawaz directs Ishaq Dar to resolve issues with PTI through dialogue

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal government has decided to resume the dialogue process with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a day after the PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced a countrywide shutter down strike.

The decision was made in a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah held in Islamabad on Monday to discuss the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Talking to media persons after the meeting, Khursheed Shah said that he talked with the prime minister regarding Imran Khan’s offer to resume dialogue, and subsequently the prime minister directed the federal finance minister Ishaq Dar to resolve issues through dialogue.

On Sunday night, Imran Khan addressing a massive public gathering in Islamabad announced that the PTI would shut down Lahore on December 4, Faisalabad on December 8, Karachi on December 12 and the entire country on December 16.

PTI changes shutter down strike call dates

However, the PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi talking to media on Monday said that the party following a high level meeting has changed dates for the nationwide strike call.

Qureshi said that now Faisalabad shut down to take place on Decenter 8, Karachi on December 12 as per original program, Lahore on December 15 and countrywide shutdown will now take place on December 18.

Khursheed Shah’s response on Imran’s threat to close down country

The opposition leader while talking about Imran Khan’s threat to close down the entire country, said that no one can dare to disrupt the country’s affairs.

Khursheed Shah appreciated the government’s decision of cutting down the petroleum prices and said the public has also acclaimed the step. However, he urged the government to minimize the prices gap between petrol and diesel.

Talking about the discussion on the appointment of the new CEC, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader said that the name of the CEC has not yet been finalized.

The opposition leader expressed hope that before December 5, name will be submitted in the Supreme Court.
