TechnologyHere's How to Root Nexus 6 properly

Root Nexus 4One of the great things about the Nexus devices is their extreme customizability they offer thanks to an easily unlockable bootloader. Of course, not many people really care to root their devices but personally, I believe that the true potential of any Nexus device can’t be unlocked until you have rooted it and customized it properly to your own personal liking. That is why, today we’re going to share an easy rooting guide for the newly released Nexus 6! Although, you can opt to use the same method for any Nexus device running on Android Lollipop.

Disclaimer: We take no responsibility for any damages that might be done to your device either during or after the process, proceed at your own risk.

Prerequisites: You will require an unlocked bootloader on your device if you don’t want the one click root method to wipe your device clean.

Guide:

  • Download CF Auto Root from here for your device and extract it to a convenient location on your computer.
  • Boot your device into fastboot mode by restarting it while holding the power + vol. Down + Vol. Up key as it is powering up till a menu appears.
  • Connect your device to the computer via a USB cable.
  • Run the appropriate file (depending on your OS, e.g. Windows users should run the root-windows.bat file).
  • If you’re on Mac or Linux you would have to use chmod +x root-linux/mac.sh in a terminal window before the script can do anything.
  • Wait for the script to be flashed to your device.
  • Reboot and voila, you will now have SuperSU installed on your device. You can check for root privileges via any root app available on the Play Store.

One thing you should remember that rooting a device will void its warranty. Also, it will expose your device to bigger risks if you grant a malware root privileges. So be careful about which apps you choose to have total dominance over your device. Have fun.
