Adnan Pardesy set to showcase his new collection “Labyrinth” at FPW 2014

KARACHI: The acclaimed couturier Adnan Pardesy is all set to showcase his eponymous label’s latest collection “Labyrinth” on November 26 at Fashion Pakistan Week 2014, says a press release issued on Thursday.

The collection is a display of weaving techniques dominated by monochromatic whites, ivories and blacks.

For “Labyrinth”, Adnan Pardesy took inspiration from psychedelic patterns and weaves along with Japanese weave structures, Chinese floral patterns, forest abstracts, Kalamkaari, Japanese Geisha, Greek temple landscape imagery, African tribal motifs, stencil technique tattoos, contemporary art with abstract imagery and Islamic pattern compositions.

“Labyrinth” will feature well-structured tapered jackets, simple clean lines, graphic details, intricate hand embroidery with fabric manipulation and labyrinthine fabric twists and drapes.

The collection is based on luxe fabrics including silks, crepes, chiffons, charmeuse silk and net. The accessories used for the show are made in-house, with jewelery and headgears inspired from different shapes like Origami shaped structure and has pearls and other semi-precious stones. Footwear for the brand showcase will be provided by Nine West. Going forward the brand also plans to launch a diffusion line range from within the Labyrinth collection, which will allow patrons of the brand the opportunity to wear a more practical version of the collection seen on the runway, materializing the concept of “From Ramp to Racks”.

Speaking about the launch of his participation at the Fashion Pakistan Week, designer Adnan Pardesy said, “We are pleased to be a part of FPW since its beginning, and it is very heartening to see that designers are provided such a platform to showcase their talent. With an emerging market such as Pakistan’s, fashion platforms such as FPW play a significant role in building the economy of our country. The Pakistani fashion industry is growing exponentially each year, within and outside of Pakistan. The demand for couture and pret is increasing each day and it is all because of the opportunities like these. Also the credit has to be shared with the press for strong media coverage of the designers and the rising trend of multi-label stores both locally and internationally.”
