Processions being taken out across country to mark Ashura

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In order to maintain law and order as the 10th Muharram is being observed with due solemnity on Tuesday to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala tragedy, the federal and provincial governments have taken strict security measures.

The pillion riding has been banned and cell phone service suspended in various areas of the country.

Likewise, the authorities have installed close circuit cameras at sensitive points to keep watch on Majalis and processions while contingents of law enforcing agencies are also patrolling sensitive areas.

The annual Zuljinah and Taazia processions are being taken out in all big and small cities and towns of the country to mark the 10th of Muharram.

In Lahore, the main procession was taken out from the Nisar Havali last night. After passing through its traditional route, it will reach its destination at Karbala Gamay Shah this evening where Shaam-e-Gharabiaan will be held.

The main procession in Rawalpindi will be taken out from Imambargah Col. Maqbool Hussain and will culminate at Imambargah Kadimi in the evening.

In Karachi, the main procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park. After passing through traditional routes, it will terminate at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in the evening.

Likewise, over a dozen Alam, Zuljihan and Tazia processions will be taken out in Peshawar. The main procession will be taken out from Qissa Khawani Imam Bargah Alamdaar after Zuhar.

In Quetta, the main procession will be taken out from Alamdar Road. After passing through its traditional routs it will culminate at the same point in the evening.
