Afghan President calls for joint, serious action against terrorism

KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai has called for a joint, coordinated and serious action against the terrorism which is seriously threatening the region.

His statement came following a suicide blast near the Wagah border that killed at least 60 persons and injured over 100 others.

In a statement, the Afghan president strongly condemned the attack in Pakistan and called it an abhorrent act by terrorist groups.

On Sunday evening, at least 60 persons including three Rangers personnel were killed while over 100 others were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Wagah border.

The outlawed Jundullah and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)-affiliated Jamaat-ul-Ahrar outfits separately claimed responsibility for the blast which occurred after the flag lowering ceremony was over at the Pak-India joint border.
