David Cameron invites Nawaz Sharif to attend Afghan conference

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The British Prime Minister David Cameron has invited his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to attend an international conference on economic assistance to Afghanistan to be held in London in the last week of November.

The invitation was extended by the British premier to Sharif through a phone call on Tuesday, during which both the leaders also discussed matters of mutual interest.

The conference is being co-chaired by Prime Minister David Cameron and Afghan President Dr Ashraf Ghani and will serve to reiterate the international community’s commitment to Afghanistan.

Being Afghanistan’s most important neighbor, Pakistan’s participation in the conference would serve to highlight its commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

On the sideline of the conference, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also meet his British counterpart David Cameron and the Afghan president to discuss issues of bilateral relations.
