PTI protest or security concerns: Section 144 once again imposed in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Rawalpindi district administration has once again imposed section 144 in the district for the next 48 hours.

The move comes in a bid to prevent motorcyclists and bike-rallies from joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest as the party Chairman Imran Khan has announced that the PTI will observe a ‘Day of Deliverance’ on Friday.

However, according to the government officials, the decision was taken due to intelligence reports of terrorist threats.

The officials said that section 144 was imposed in Rawalpindi district with immediate effect on Thursday night due to security concerns, and it will remain in force till 48 hours.

Following the imposition of section 144, assembly of four or more persons, carrying weapons or any article which may be used as a weapon, use of laud speaker and pillion riding are prohibited.
