ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has once again asked political parties to submit applications for allotment of election symbol by tomorrow (Friday).

The ECP said that applications received after the last date or through fax will not be entertained.

It said that so far 56 political parties out of 227 have applied for the allotment of the election symbols. PPP and PML-N are among the parties which have not applied for allotment of election symbols.

Meanwhile, the printing of the new nomination papers has been completed. 120,000 nomination papers have been printed and white would be used for general seats, pink for women seats and yellow for minority and reserved seats.

The distribution of the nomination papers is expected to be completed by March 18.

The commission has also summoned polling schemes from provincial election commissioners and has directed that polling stations should only be set-up in government offices.

The polling stations should not be at a distance of two kilometers and each polling station should not exceed 2,500 voters, the commission has said.
