Altaf Hussain asks govt to resign in country's interest

LONDON: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain has asked the government to voluntarily resign in the country’s best interest.

His statement came after the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Dr Tahirul Qadri late on Wednesday night announced ‘Revolution day’ after the government refused to accept the two core demands extended by his party following two rounds of talks.

The MQM leader said that all demands of Dr Tahirul Qadri are valid, and said that the government should step down to avoid any bloodshed. He said that the government should consider the safety of women and children, participating in the sit-ins.

Hussain said that if Dr Tahirul Qadri did not step back voluntarily, the third force would have to intervene.

Moreover, he said that amendments could be made in the demands through dialogues but he added that “How can the talks prevail if the government refuses to accept valid demands?”
